Space

The Space use case involves analyzing satellite imagery to detect and classify sea ice. While on-satellite processing has significant constraints, the middleware plays a key role once the data is downloaded to Earth.

The integration workflow is:

1. Satellite images with initial labels (from on-board algorithms) are sent to a ground station.
2. On Earth, these images are enriched with labels from more powerful algorithms.
3. The enriched, labeled images are registered as datasets on the middleware’s marketplace.
4. External users (researchers, commercial entities) can then access these high-value datasets for their own purposes, such as validating new detection algorithms or building new applications.

The middleware allows users to access and integrate this distributed data as if it were all hosted on a single platform.
